Sage Lodge offers guests a multitude of Montana fly fishing experiences, including guided excursions to the best fly fishing locations in Paradise Valley, as well as instruction to hone your skills on the water. Guides are limited, so advance reservations are strongly recommended.

Float down the Yellowstone or Madison rivers in one of our custom drift boats while fishing and taking in Montana's fantastic scenery and wildlife.

  • Availability: Spring - Fall | During the spring runoff season which generally runs from mid-May to late June, the Yellowstone River may not be fishable. As our exact runoff season varies from year to year we may be able to offer fishing trips on the Yellowstone River outside of these date ranges.
  • Duration:4 - 8 hours
  • Start Time: Plan on meeting at 8:00am in the lobby to depart for the day of fishing.
  • Price: Yellowstone River Full-Day Trips: $700 per boat - 1-2 anglers. | Yellowstone River Half-Day Trips: $550 per boat - 1-2 anglers. | Madison River Full-Day Trips: $750 per boat - 1-2 anglers.
  • Includes: Flies, terminal tackle, rods/reels, waders and boots (if needed), transportation, non-alcoholic beverages and a meal of your choice off our Backcountry Menu (meal is included on full-day trips only).
  • Excludes: Valid MT fishing license, guide gratuities, and alcoholic beverages (if desired)

Spend a day fishing in the remote and beautiful backcountry of YNP.  Our skilled guides will take you off the beaten path where you will get away from people and closer to willing-to-eat trout.  Please be advised that there is limited opportunity to fish close to the road and most trips will involve a fair amount of hiking in bear country.  Due to limited parking in the park, these trips will need to depart the lodge at 7:00am.

Want to learn the basics of how to cast a fly rod and the skills to catch a trout? Grab a line and head out to our opening casting pond. You can also sign-up for a thirty-minute casting lesson with our Activities Team, covering the basics of casting and pond fishing.

Sage Lodge is located in the middle of some of the finest trout fishing in the world. The Yellowstone region is long considered the heart of American Fly Fishing. Learn the basics of fly fishing with one of our experienced instructors and introduce yourself to the beauty and challenge the sport offers. This two-hour class will provide a brief classroom session, a casting lesson, and an hour of instruction on our spring-fed trout pond.
